Marji was the sister I wasn’t born with, but I got to have from the age of 15 on. We knew each other’s parents like our own and my parents loved her. My mother introduced her to cooking by giving her cookbooks. and maybe that’s what started her lifelong love of recipes ianccooking shows. She was my partner in crime and we shared basically everything from dishes to clothes to shampoo to lipstick. I look around my house now and I see the things like my deviled egg plate that had been her mother’s that she gave me because she knew I love making deviled eggs. The only difference really between marji and me was she treasured her time alone, and I always need people around me. She was really comfortable in her own skin. we shared a love of the same kind of music from a really early age. She had gone to see the Broadway show, funny girl with Barbra Streisand and brought back the album and we listen to it for hours and hours and hours in our dorm room and knew every word until the end we shared our love of the same kind of music and the same songs and we constantly introduced each other to different songs. And books. Woody is always said that I’m the only person who could ever make her do anything I’m not sure that that’s true but I know that anytime I suggested anything it always turned out great from marrying him and buying great houses. I guess the house part was selfish because I wanted her near me. There’s so many things I can say about how brave she was always and how strong and what a fabulous sense of humor she had even though she loved dumb jokes that I never really got but the most important thing about her was her incredible love for her family and that’s why she was the best home body I’ve ever known.
