Marji was the sister I wasn’t born with, but I got to have from the age of 15 on. We knew each other’s parents like our own and my parents loved her. Bouganvillea
It’s spring in Montecito and the pink has come alive in my garden. Memories of carrying heaps of the freshly cut flowers in a wicker basket as I walked down State street in the children’s fiesta parade.Yes- that was a real thing – long since gone but it reminds me of a more innocent time when 8 year olds could actually walk down city streets unsupervised. How lucky I was to have grown up in a place with virtually no crime and so much freedom.

A Fallen Oak
